There are several avenues to obtaining internal research funding.
Through Your Faculty
One of these is through your faculty. These are largely for abatement for research and are essential for those teaching on degree programs where research output is a requirement.
Through the Research Committee
The Research Committee is institutional-wide and administers a central fund for research activities. There are conditions for applying for these funds which are for costs for equipment, travel and employing research assistants. Additional abatement may also be requested. Applications are considered by the SIT Research Committee which meets four times a year. Please note that funding for attendance at conferences are made on a separate form and application can be made throughout the year. Applications to the SIT Research Committee should go to your Head of Faculty for approval prior to submitting them to the Committee.

External Funding Opportunities
Seeking External Research Funding:
There are various external funding sources available for research. It is never too early to consider external grant opportunities for research projects. It is a great idea to start thinking about applying for external funding at the same time as you develop your research proposal. Even if specific funding rounds have closed for this year, you can begin planning to apply in the next round.
Funding opportunities that are particular applicable to SIT staff are those that support research into teaching practice. In particular:
